FEAR STREET PART THREE 1666
We’ve reached the climax of the Fear Street Trilogy.
Fear Street Part Three 1666 teleports us back into time when Sarah Fier was alive. When we meet Fier she seems just like any other young girl with no knowledge of witchcraft. Things start to take a turn when the village pastor gouges out the eyes of village children killing them. The only explanation? Witchcraft. And the culprit? Sarah Fier and Hannah Miller because they were spotted making out and a butthurt creep that was mad Hannah wouldn’t fuck him. Sarah gets away but Hannah is captured. Sarah finds out that Solomon Goode is the one behind the cursed village, which later becomes Shadyside. But Sarah Fier takes the blame. Back to the future in 1994, Deena is the next target for the Shadyside killers as she, Ziggy, and Justin come up with a plan to kill Sheriff Nick Goode, whose family has made a deal with the devil to help their family prosper, to end the curse. They trap the killers in the mall and lure Nick there in hopes the killers will kill him. The plan goes wrong and Deena and Nick showdown for Nick to meet his fate in the end and release the curse on the town.
Now, this is how you do proper horror movies. From start to finish you are sucked into this world. From the first kill to the final kill. The first half of FSPT1666 reminded me of American Horror Story by using the actors from the previous films as if they were these new characters. Showing the connection between the past and the present. I only wish that they would’ve made 1666 the whole movie and had a part four for the second half. Fear Street would’ve also worked well as an anthology series like AHS. But all three movies did their job and were still executed well.
The reveal of Nick Goode and his ancestors being behind the Shadyside curse and Sarah Fier being another woman who was wrongly accused of being a witch was a plot twist I didn’t see coming but boy was it a good one. Most plot twists in horror have tended to be lackluster or anticlimactic for years but this felt fresh and original.
The Fear Street Trilogy was a thrill ride, and original. I hope we get more from Fear Street with new stories or even exploring the stories we only got a glimpse of in the Fear Street Trilogy.
