FEAR STREET PART TWO 1978
Fear Street Part Two 1978 brings us back into the golden age of slashers with the second installment of the Fear Street Trilogy. The film draws most of its inspiration from Friday the 13th. And makes me thank God I’ve never been to summer camp.
Fear Street Part Two 1978 continues where Fear Street Part One 1994 left off with Deena inquiring the help of C. Berman after her girlfriend Sam is possessed by the witch Sarah Fier. Berman brought them back to Camp Nightwing in the summer of 1978. After a camp counselor gets possessed by the witch and goes on an all you can kill buffet.
The film flows nicely separating the 1978 portion from the 1994 portion without making you feel like you’ve been taken out of either story and setting up the final chapter. The first film revolved around teenage romance while the sequel revolves around sisters. Unlike the first installment FSPT1978 doesn’t give you time to attach yourself to most of the characters as all but two find themselves at the end of an ax.
Fear Street Part Two 1978 makes the stakes even higher along with the body count. Never thought a slasher film would go killing kids but it went there. This film is more of a slasher film than the first film with a lot more blood and gore. You didn’t know when or where the killer was going to show up, almost like Jaws teasing the fisherman before it strikes. You never want to look away from the screen or you’ll miss the next kill.
As I said in my last review for Fear Street Part One, I’m not particularly a horror/slasher fan so I keep surprisingly finding myself enjoying these movies. I highly enjoyed the inclusion of the song Carry on Wayward Son. I kept expecting Sam and Dean Winchester to roll up in their Impala with shot guns filled with rock salt.
Fear Street Part Two 1978 was just if not more thrilling than the first installment and I can’t wait to dive right into the final film of the Fear Street Trilogy.
