Jordy’s MLB Bet Picks For August 25th
Pick One: Los Angeles Angels -1.5 (-145) at the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles are dogshit as they have lost their last 19 games and it doesn’t get better as tonight they see Shohei Ohtani and his 2.79 ERA to go with his lethal bat. The Angels lead in batting average, .251 to .238, in on-base percentage, .313 to .300, in slugging percentage, .418 to .401, and in on-base plus slugging, .730 to .702. This streak goes to 20 and it will be by multiple runs.
Miss: Orioles win 10-6
Pick Two: San Francisco Giants -1.5 (+155) at the New York Mets
The pitching matchup is pretty even but the Giants have a big batting edge. In batting average the Giants lead, .247 to .234, in on-base percentage, .326 to .311, in slugging percentage, .439 to .378, and in on-base plus slugging, .765 to .689. Against the spread, the Giants are 76-49 while the Mets are 54-71. Last night the Giants beat the Mets 8-0 and I’d say expect another beating tonight.
Miss: Giants win 3-2
Pick Three: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+110) at the San Diego Padres
Outside of being almost identical in batting average the Dodgers have the advantages. Dodgers starter Walker Buehler has a 2.11 ERA compared to Padres starter Blake Snell’s 4.82 ERA. The Dodgers lead in on-base percentage, .334 to .325, in slugging percentage, .426 to .408, and in on-base plus slugging, .759 to .733. The Dodgers won 5-2 last night and are the better team: expect them to cover tonight.
Hit: Dodgers win 5-3
Pick Four: Over 10.5 (-110) in Boston Red Sox vs the Minnesota Twins
I know 10.5 is a lot, but trust me and take this over tonight. Including last night’s 11-9 battle between these two teams, the Twins have seen four of their last five have at least 12 runs scored. For the Red Sox, their last three have seen at least 11 runs scored. Both squads are top ten in OPS and slugging and both are top twelve in batting average. To make it sweeter both starting pitchers have 4.38 and 4.43 ERA’s.
Hit: Twins win 9-6
Pick Five: Over 9 (-115) in Cleveland Indians vs the Texas Rangers
Indians starter Zach Plesac has a 4.87 ERA and Rangers starter Jake Latz has yet to make an MLB start so the pitching conditions are favorable. Neither team has been particularly good at bat but the Rangers have seen at least 10 runs scored in four of their last five and for the Indians at least 10 runs were scored in three of their last five. Take the over.
Push: Indians win 7-2
