LOKI Episode 5: The Journey Into Mystery
Loki episode 4 recap: Loki and Sylvie preparing for the inevitable doom, cause a nexus event when they touch alerting the TVA. Now both prisoners are taken into questioning. Loki is sent into a time loop, but not before he can say to Mobius that the TVA is lying, where we greet a familiar face, Lady Sif. There Loki repeatedly gets punched and kicked by sif as she tells him he will always be alone. Hunter B-15 feeling the effects of Sylvie’s enchantment from episode 2, starts remembering a life she had before the TVA. She has Sylvie show her again her real life. Mobius interrogates Loki, tricking him into thinking Sylvie is dead in hopes it will get answers. Mobius soon begins to question everything himself. He tries to free Loki only to find himself getting pruned. Loki and Sylvie are taken to the Timekeepers where a battle breaks out thanks to the help of Hunter B-15. The Timekeepers are revealed to be robots. Then in a heartfelt moment between Loki and Sylvie, Loki is pruned. Post credit scene revealing Loki alive surrounded by other Loki variants.
We officially only have one more episode left, sad face. But until next week let’s focus on this week’s packed episode. Thanks to their most intimate moment yet Loki and Sylvie’s on screen sexual tension gets thinner and thinner; you don’t even need a knife to cut. It’s transparent at this point. Never in the history of the MCU or superhero movies in general has there been this much sexual tension. I’m torn if I should ship them or is it weird because Loki and Sylvie are the same person, just different versions but it’s still like him kissing himself in a mirror, although he’s probably done that before, wouldn’t put it past him.
Now that I got the Loki/ Sylvie will they won’t they out the way lets deep dive into the rest. Episode 5 introduces us to new Loki variants from different timelines on a mysterious void planet. These new Loki each bring their own set of uniqueness to Loki, including kid Loki who is rumored to appear in a Young Avengers project.
It seems like the TVA secrets and lies won’t stay hidden if Sylvie has anything to do about it. But She’s not the only one wanting to know the truth. Renslayer is also wanting to know the truth but for what reason is still a mystery. And thankfully we didn’t have to say goodbye to everyone’s favorite anylist Mobius. Loki taps into powers he wasn’t able to do before, thanks to Sylvie. With the climatic ending we are for sure in for one hell of a glorious finale next week.
Episode 5 left me with these questions. What is Renslayer up to? Will the TVA be taken down? What and who are Loki and Sylvie on their way too? And the most important question, will Loki and Sylvie kiss?
