Episode 5 recap: After Loki is pruned he wakes up on a void planet surrounded by other variant versions of himself, Classic Loki, Kid Loki, Boastful Loki and Alligator Loki. Sylvie takes Renslayer hostage and tries to find out who is really behind the Timekeepers and the TVA. The variant Loki’s take Loki to their underground layer and swap stories on their own Nexus events. Later to be interrupted by yet another variant Loki, President Loki. Sylvie prunes herself after finding out Loki is actually still alive and Renslayer requests all the files on the creation of the TVA. Sylvie wakes up in the void about to be devoured by Alioth, a fog-like monster, to be rescued by Mobius in a pizza delivery car. Loki comes up with the plan to kill Alioth. Mobius and Sylvie find Loki and hatch a new plan to enchant Alioth, who is acting like a guard dog for whoever is behind everything. Sylvie gives Mobius a timepad she stole so he can go back to the TVA. Loki and Sylvie make their way to Alioth. With the help of Classic Loki they are able to distract Alioth enough to enchant them, also allowing Loki to find a power he couldn’t do before. This reveals a mysterious castle outside the void as they head to it.
We are finally at the end of Loki season one. Loki was said to have the biggest impact on the MCU and it does. It no doubt sets up Spider-man: No Way Home and, Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and even the What If animated series premiering next month. This could also be the gateway for the MCU to introduce the X-Men and mutants, the possibilities are endless. Loki opened the doors of the multiverse in the MCU allowing this franchise to grow even further, setting up the future for the MCU for years.
The finale finally reveals who’s behind everything. I won’t say who to avoid spoilers but hint it’s a character set to appear in one of the approved films. Well a variant version. Hinting that this version was the “good” version and there’s worse versions ready to conquer.
We finally get a Loki and Sylvie kiss after all the sexual tension in episode 3. In true Loki fashion he finally gets a love interest and it’s himself, wouldn’t have it any other way. Loki and Sylvie get into an intense sword fight complete with badass sorcery, Loki finally realizing that there’s more than that glorious purpose he’s so burdened with.
The finale is only the beginning as season two was confirmed after the credits rolled. Tom was brilliant as always. Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie who was an absolute standout and stole the show. Owen Wilson, hopefully we’ll get to see him ride a damn jet ski next season. Oh and say “wow” just once, but mainly the jet ski. Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Renslayler, I want to know what she’ll be up to in season two. Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, I knew she was shaddy, can’t trust a hologram clock. Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15 hopes to see more of her. And applause to the rest of the cast.
Now I know it’s the finale but it did leave me with these questions. Will Loki and Sylvie meet again? What timeline is Loki in? Will the timeline be restored again? What does season two have in store?
I think It’s safe to say we’ve officially entered the multiverse of madness.
