The final season of Lucifer arrives September 10th on Netflix so let’s look back at the 6 best episodes from seasons 1-5. (Note: these are my personal picks)
S2, E16: God Johnson
Lucifer comes face to face with his dad God himself, while investigating a murder in a mental hospital. Convinced Johnson is his dad, he tries to reunite his parents. Come to realize that he isn’t God but a man who has been carrying a piece of Azrael’s blade as a belt buckle making him think and have the powers of God. Lucifer realizes that God would never really reconcile with him as his hate for his father grows.
S3, E13: Til Death Do Us Part
Lucifer and Pierce go undercover as a married couple in order to catch a killer in a seemingly fine neighborhood. Complete with a break up and make up that would make the audience believe they are a married couple.
S5, E12: Daniel Espinoza: Naked and Afraid
While doing what is considered grunt work for detectives, Dan is tasked with transporting a prisoner. He finds himself in the middle of murder/ getting poisoned/ a stand off with his improve buddies as back up only for this whole thing to be an elaboratant prank that Lucifer orchestrated just because Dan shot him after descovering that Lucifer is actually the devil.
S5, E10: Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam
God uses his powers to have everyone breakout into musical numbers during crime scenes and interrogations. It can’t get any better than that.
S3, E24: A Devil of My Word
Lucifer kills Pierce aka Cain believing he will be going to Heaven because he has no regrets but Lucifer informs him that he will feel guilt for Charlotte’s death in Hell for eternity. And the moment we couldn’t wait to see when Chloe finds out that Lucifer is actually the king of Hell.
S5 Part 1, E16: A Chance at a Happy Ending
Season 5 finale, Lucifer and Michael fight to see who will become God. Micahel ends up killing Chloe, sending her to Heaven. Lucifer flies up to the silver city to bring the love of his life back because it isn’t her time, but Lucifer, unable to enter without dying, uses Lilith’s immortality ring to give him just enough time to bring Chloe back. Sacrificing himself as Chloe comes back it looks like Micheal has won. But Lucifer soon is resurrected and rather than killing his brother cuts his wings off as a second chance for him on earth, proving Lucifer is worthy of becoming the new God.
