Premier Lacrosse League Turns In Good Opening Weekend
The league’s third season started over the weekend with its first game on Friday between the Cannons and Redwoods. That game was a true battle that came down until the very end where the Redwoods pulled out a tight 12-11 victory. Saturday’s action started with a rematch of last year’s title game between the back to back champion Whipsnakes and Chaos. The Whipsnakes were in command almost the entire game as they won 13-7 and were up 13-3 headed into the fourth quarter. At night the Archers dismantled the Atlas 18-6. The weekend concluded on Sunday with two deceptively close games. The Cannons beat the Waterdogs 13-7 but they led 9-2 at halftime. In the final game, the Redwoods beat the Chrome 14-11. The Chrome were down 6 headed into the fourth and scored five to make it look closer.
The Redwoods Rob Pannell ranks first in points with 9 then the Cannons Andrew Kew is tied at 7 with teammate Lyle Thomson and the Redwoods Jules Heningburg. Paul Rabil of the Cannons rounds out the top five with 6 points. It is worth noting the Redwoods played two games. Hopefully, the rest of the season can prove to be exciting as the opening weekend.
