DANGER, DANGER SPOILER WARNING AHEAD!
Centering on Daryl for the hour. Turning back to when the group were ambushed by the Reapers in the woods at the end of the second episode. Daryl, accompanied by Dog of course, finds himself coming face to face with a Reaper. Dog jumps in to protect Daryl but is thrown down a hill. Daryl almost finds himself getting captured but escapes by throwing a knife in the Reaper’s direction to distract them.
The next day Daryl is shown covering himself in walker insides. Dog still separated from Daryl, is being watched by a Reaper. Daryl, hearing Dog barking, is able to find him, but Dog is standing next to a Reaper, who reveals herself to be Leah, Daryl’s love interest shown in an episode in season 10 and Dog’s original owner. Daryl tries to get Dog to come to him to no prevail, before more Reapers show up and he is captured.
Daryl with a sack over his head is taken to the Reaper’s base where he is put in a small building. There Leah confronts him. Daryl is later waterboarded for answers about the rest of the group, he lies but his lies are not believed. After he is taken to a small cell. Across in another cell is a one of the members of the group who also has been captured. He tries to talk to Daryl, but Daryl dismisses him pretending he barely knows him and to not talk to him. Daryl asks Leah to give him Dog and she’ll never have to see him again.
Leah finds out that one of their people has been killed. A priest-like person leans over the dead body praying. The leader Pope walked in saying, “God is here, and he is angry.”
Leah tells Daryl that she used to be in the military and a mercenary. They have a heart to heart about why Daryl left but came back to find that Leah was gone. Telling her that he was scared of letting go. Daryl tells Leah about the others about continuing lying saying that he’s only known them for a week and that they were speaking in code and were planning on meeting up with more of their people.
Leah goes to Pope telling him what Daryl had just told her and tries to vouch for him, Leah maintains her loyalty is to her “family” Daryl back in the small building. Leah arrives and the other Reapers leave. Leah tells Daryl that Pope will be there soon. But they are locked in, and the inside starts to catch flames. They escape to find Pope and the other Reapers standing outside. It was a test. Daryl is apparently a new member.
Pope tells Daryl about his time in the military and becoming a mercenary. He goes on saying that God has chosen them, and that Daryl is now a “chosen on.” Daryl later joins the other Reapers by the fire for food. Pope intimidates the Reaper who brought back the dead Reaper about his whereabouts when he died, noticing his scars are on his back. Leah tells Pope to back off. Pope backs off at first, then tosses the Reaper into the fire holding him down with his foot killing him. This shocks everyone.
