VAL
This is not a review, but I recently watched the Documentary called VAL about the life of famed actor Val Kilmer. So reviewing his documentary would not feel right as it is Val Kilmer’s life and reviewing the story of his life doesn’t feel right. But I did want to write about it.
Most of the time we don’t think of actors as regular people doing their job. But these glorified beings that we put to so high standards that we forget celebrities are human too. When you think about Val Kilmer you think about him as Batman or Iceman in Top Gun, or Doc Holiday in Tombstone. My mind goes to Willow as Madmartigan, one of my favorite movies as a kid.
VAL tells Val Kilmer’s story, his life through old home videos going back to when he was a kid. And we see him now. Narrated by his son Jack, who looks just like his dad. Although Val has suffered throat cancer leaving him with a feeding tube in his throat. He is still full of life at 61 years old. VAL is a wonderful documentary that brings you into what it is like to be an actor, the tragedies that he and his family faced when he was young, troubled film productions, and most importantly his life as a human.
If you love documentaries, movies, actors, or a fan of Val Kilmer I highly recommend VAL.
VAL is streaming on Amazon Prime Video
